1. What is an adjective? (¿Qué es un adjetivo?)

An adjective is a word that describes a noun (a person, animal, object, or place). In English, adjectives provide information such as size, color, origin, or state, among other things.

Examples: big, red, old, happy.


(Un adjetivo es una palabra que describe a un sustantivo (un persona, animal, objeto, lugar). En inglés, el adjetivo ofrece información como el tamaño, color, origen o estado, entre otros.

Ejemplos: big, red, old, happy.)

2. Adjective placement (Colocación del adjetivo)

The most common way to use adjectives in English is to place the adjective before the noun.

(La forma mas común de usar los adjetivos en ingles es colocar el adjetivo antes del sustantivo.)

Examples:

  • a red apple = una manzana roja
  • the tall building = el edificio alto


We can also use the verb "to be"; in this case, the adjective can come after:

(Tambien podemos usar el verbo to be, en este caso, el adjetivo puede ir después:)

Examples:

  • the apple is red = la manzana es roja
  • the building is tall = el edificio es alto

3. Common adjectives (Adjetivos comunes)

These are some of the most common adjectives in English.

  • Big = Grande
  • Happy = Feliz
  • Hot = Caliente
  • Strong = Fuerte
  • Expensive = Costoso
  • Colorful = Colorido
  • Sad = Triste
  • Friendly = Amigable
