Petit mais crucial, je me plante dans la roche pour que l'escalade puisse se faire en sécurité; on me frappe pour me fixer et on m'enlève parfois avec délicatesse à la fin de l'ascension.

Je travaille avec des cordes et des mousquetons pour assurer la sécurité du grimpeur.

On m'insère dans la roche à l'aide d'un marteau ou d'un marteau-piqueur léger.
