In 2/4 time, I love to stay, My rhythm keeps the dance in play. Not too fast, not too slow What musical beat helps dancers flow?

With sticks in hand, we tap in time, While dancing steps in rhythm and rhyme. We practice first, then add this skill — What action makes the dance more thrilling still?

Step, close, step is what I say, I move in rhythm, quick and gay. Count me as “1 and 2” with ease— What basic step am I, if you please?

Before the music, I take the lead, I show the step that students need. First I perform, then they repeat— Who am I guiding every beat?

I lift off high, then touch down near, On one or both feet, I disappear. Two quick counts and I’m in the air, What am I called? Can you dare?
