Introducción a los polígonos

Un polígono es una figura plana cerrada formada por segmentos rectos. Sus lados y vértices definen su forma y tamaño.

Definiciones clave

Lado: cada segmento del polígono. Vértice: punto donde se unen dos lados. Ángulo interior: entre dos lados adyacentes.

Regulares vs irregulares

Regulares tienen lados y ángulos iguales; irregulares varían. El nombre suele depender del número de lados.

Nombres por lados (3 a 10)

Triángulo, cuadrilátero, pentágono, hexágono, heptágono, octágono, eneágono, decágono.

Propiedades básicas

Todos tienen lados rectos, cierre perfecto y ángulos interiores. Suma de ángulos: (n-2)×180°.

Perímetro

El perímetro es la suma de todos los lados. En polígonos regulares, lado×n da el perímetro.

Área de polígonos

El área depende de la forma. Triángulos: base×altura/2; cuadriláteros: base×altura. Descomponer facilita el cálculo.

Convexos vs concavos

Convexos: todos los ángulos < 180°. Concavos: al menos un ángulo interior mayor de 180°.

Identificación práctica

Observa vértices y lados. Cuenta cuántos lados tiene; verifica si puede dibujarse sin cruzarse.

Ejercicios rápidos

Nombra el polígono de 5 lados: pentágono. ¿Es un hexágono regular? Depende de si todos sus lados y ángulos son iguales.
