Qué es el punto

El punto es un signo de puntuación que indica una pausa final y delimita oraciones completas dentro de un texto.

Final de una oración

Se coloca al final de una oración declarativa, y también después de oraciones imperativas o en oraciones interrogativas cerradas con ? o exclamativas con !.

Entorno de preguntas y exclamaciones

Las oraciones interrogativas y exclamativas cierran con ? o !, no requieren un punto adicional al final.

Abreviaturas con punto

En abreviaturas como Sr., Sra., Dr., el punto indica que la palabra está abreviada.

Punto y números: miles

En muchos países hispanohablantes, el punto separa miles (1.234) en lugar de decimales.

Punto y números: decimales

En español, el decimal se marca con una coma, no con punto (3,14).

Punto en listados

Para listas, se puede usar puntos al inicio de cada ítem, o puntos suspensivos para indicar continuidad.

Los puntos suspensivos (...) muestran pausa, duda o continuación en el texto.

Errores comunes

Evita poner puntos extra tras signos de apertura de interrogación o exclamación, y revisa las abreviaturas para no confundir.
