Las culturas prehispánicas son las sociedades que existieron en América antes de la llegada de los europeos. Sus aportes incluyen arte, escritura, arquitectura y sistemas políticos complejos.

2. Olmecas: la cultura madre

Los Olmecas se consideran la “cultura madre” de Mesoamérica. Destacaron en escultura de piedra, centros ceremoniales y un calendario temprano.

3. Mayas: astronomía y escritura

Los mayas desarrollaron un complejo sistema iconográfico y jeroglífico, además de observaciones astronómicas precisas y calendarios cíclicos.

4. Teotihuacán: ciudad de los dioses

En Teotihuacán floreció una gran ciudad con avenidas piramidales, barrios bien organizados y una economía basada en el intercambio y la agricultura.

Fue la civilización dominante en Mesoamérica durante el periodo posclásico. Fundaron su capital, México-Tenochtitlán, en 1325 d.C. en el lago de Texcoco. Construyeron un vasto imperio militar y comercial, destacando por sus avanzados sistemas agrícolas y su profunda cosmovisión religiosa, hasta su caída ante los españoles en 1521.
