Slide 1 — Introduction

In English, we talk about the future using will, be going to, and related forms. Today we focus on intentions and plans you already make and those you decide on the spot.

Slide 2 — Will for promises and decisions

We use will for spontaneous decisions, promises, and predictions based on opinion. Example: I will help you with your homework after dinner.

Slide 3 — Be going to for intentions

Be going to expresses plans and intentions you already decided. Structure: am/is/are going to + base verb. Example: I am going to study after dinner.

Slide 4 — Future continuous vs simple

Future continuous describes ongoing actions at a future moment. Form: will be + verb-ing. Example: This time tomorrow, I will be traveling.

Slide 5 — When to choose will

Use will for offers, spontaneous decisions, and predictions without strong evidence. Example: I will open the door for you.

Slide 6 — Be going to vs will: planning vs prediction

Be going to = plans already made; will = predictions or decisions at the moment of speaking. Example: We are going to start soon vs I think it will rain.

Slide 7 — Negatives

Negative forms: will not / won't + base verb; am/is/are not going to + base verb. Example: I won’t be late, I am not going to skip class.

Form questions: Will + subject + base verb? or Are/Is/Am + subject + going to + base verb? Examples: Will you come tomorrow? Are you going to travel next week?

Slide 9 — Time expressions

Common signals: tomorrow, next week, this evening, soon, in 2030. They help show future meaning clearly.

Slide 10 — Practice activity

Try writing sentences about your plans using be going to for intentions and will for predictions or offers. Example: I am going to read after dinner. I will call you later.
