Slide 1: What is the Present Continuous?

The present continuous describes actions happening right now or around the present time.

Structure: am/is/are + verb + -ing.

He is reading a book now. The action is happening at this moment.

Notice the helping verb is with reading.

We use am with I, and is/are with others.

Examples: I am playing, You are drawing.

For third person singular, use is.

Example: She is helping Mrs. Lee.

To ask, invert the verb: Is he watching TV now?

Short answer: Yes, he is or No, he isn’t.
