Chapter 1: The Waiting Room Chair

The waiting room felt like it was holding its

breath.

Wally the Watermelon sat in a blue chair that was

a little too wide. His feet dangled above the floor.

Around him, people flipped though magazines, tapped on their phones, or stared quietly at the wall.

A clock ticked above the door.

Tick.

Tock.

People flipped through magazines and glanced at the door.

Nothing hurt.

Nothing felt wrong exactly.

Still, something inside Wally felt uncomfortable.

He folded his hands in his lap. Then unfolded them. Them folded them again.

Wally noticed something important.

The longer he waited,

the harder it was to keep his feelings quiet.

2

Chapter 2: When Waiting Stretches Time

Minutes passed. Or maybe it was longer.

Wally wasn't sure.

He watched the door that led to the hallway.

Every time it opened, his heart jumped. Every time

it closed again, his shoulders dropped.

"What if they forgot about me?" he wondered.

Then another thought slipped in.

"What if they remember me...and it's something

serious?"

Wally shallowed.

"I'm not scared exactly," he told himself.

"But I don't feel calm either."

His stomach felt tight, like it had tied itself into a

small knot. His chest felt full, as if too many

thoughts were trying to sit in the same place.

He tried taking a deep breath—but it felt short.

Waiting didn't feel like doing nothing.

It felt like doing too much inside.

3

Chapter 3: The Name Call

"Wally Watermelon?'

The voice was clear and kind, but it startled him

anyway.

Wally froze for a moment.

"That's me," he said softly, his voice quieter than

he expected.

As he stood up, everything inside him rushed

forward at once.

His heart beat faster.

His thoughts bumped into each other,

"I can do this," he told himself.

"I've waited this long."

But as he followed the nurse down the hallway,

his confidence wobbled. The hallway felt longer

than it looked, and every step made his thoughts louder again.

"What if I don't understand the questions?"

"What if I forget what I wanted to say?"

Wally held his hands together tightly as they

walked.

4

Chapter 4: Inside the Doctor's Room

The doctor's room felt very different from the

waiting room.

The lights were brighter. The walls were quieter.

Machines blinked softly in the corner, and a

rolling stool squeaked as it moved.

Wally sat on the table, hit feet dangling again.

"This is the part that feels hardest," he thought.

His chest tightened.

"I feel scared now," Wally admitted to himself.

"Not a little. More than before."

The feelings didn't whisper anymore.

They spoke loudly, all at once.

He tried to focus on the posters on the wall, but

his thoughts kept pulling him back inside his head.

"I wish I could explain how I feel," he thought.

"But I don't even know how."

5

Chapter 5: When Feelings Get Too Big

As the doctor spoke and asked questions, Wally

nodded—but his mind kept drifting.

"What if I answer wrong?"

"What if I don't explain it right?"

"What if I forgot something important?"

The room felt smaller than before.

Wally pressed his hands together and took a

shallow breath.

"I don't like this feeling," he whispered.

"It feels like too much."

His eyes wandered to the small table beside him.

That's when he noticed something he hadn't seen

before.

A notebook.

It looked plain, but steady—like it had been

waiting patiently.

6

Chapter 6: The Notebook Steps In

Notebook the Journal slid just a little closer.

"You're holding a lot right now," Notebook said

gently.

Wally nodded slowly. "It feels like it's all stuck

inside me."

Notebook opened its pages, letting them lie flat.

"You don't have to carry everything while you're

here," it said.

"You can set some of it down."

Wally hesitated.

"I don't know how to explain what I'm feeling," he

admitted.

"I don't even know what all of it is."

Notebook didn't rush him.

"You don't need the right words," it said softly.

"You just need a place to start."

7

Chapter 7: Letting the Feelings Out

Notebook offered Wally a crayon.

Wally held it tightly at first.

Then he began.

A wide red shape filled the page.

"That's the nervous part." he said quietly.

Next came uneven blue lines.

"That's the waiting. It goes on and on."

Yellow streaks appeared next—thin, but bright.

"That's hope," Wally said. "Even when I don't feel

sure."

Then darker colors pressed in from the edges.

"That's fear," Wally whispered.

"It got louder in this room."

The page filled quickly.

Wally's hand felt tired—but his breathing felt

deeper.

8

Chapter 8: Seeing the Feelings Clearly

Wally held the page up.

"That's everything," he said.

"All of it together."

Notebook nodded.

"And now it's outside of you," it said.

"You don't have to keep holding it all alone."

Wally took a long, slow breath.

"I didn't know I was allowed to feel this way here,"

he said.

"I thought I had to be quiet about it."

Notebook replied gently.

"Feelings don't disappear when we ignore them.

They get calmer when we notice them."

Wally looked at the page again.

"It still feels big," he said.

"But it doesn't feel stuck anymore."

9

Chapter 9: The Doctor Visit Changes

When the doctor returned, Wally still felt nervous.

But it felt different now.

"I feel scared," Wally said honestly,

"I also feel ready to listen."

The doctor smiled and pulled up a chair, so they were at the same eye level.

"I'm going to explain everything step by step," the doctor said gently. "If something doesn't make sense, you can ask."

Wally nodded. His hands rested in his lap, no longer squeezed together.

When the doctor paused, Wally surprised himself. "I have a question," he said.

The words came out softer than he expected, but they still came out.

The doctor listened and answered slowly, making sure Wally understood. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt too big to ask.

He glanced at the notebook on the table and felt proud. He had named his feelings.

10

Chapter 10: Leaving the Waiting Room Again

After the visit, Wally walked back through the

hallway.

The waiting room looked the same—same chairs,

same clock, same quiet sounds.

But Wally felt different.

"I still have feelings," he said.

"They didn't disappear."

Notebook rested quietly beside him.

"But now I know what they are," Wally added.

"And that helps."

Notebook replied softly,

"Listening to yourself is brave work."

Wally smiled.

Waiting was hard.

The doctor visit was harder.

But understanding his feelings made everything feel lighter.

And for now, that was enough.
