Slide 1: What is a Polygon?

A polygon is a closed plane figure with three or more straight sides and vertices. It has no curves and each side meets at endpoints.

Key properties: sides, vertices, edges, and interior angles. It is a planar figure that does not self-intersect. Each vertex connects two sides.

Slide 3: Types of Polygons

Polygons can be convex or concave, and regular or irregular, depending on side and angle equality.

Slide 4: Regular Polygons

In a regular polygon, all sides and all interior angles are equal. Examples: equilateral triangle, square, regular pentagon.

The interior angle sum is (n−2)×180°, where n is the number of sides. For a hexagon, 720° total.

Perimeter measures boundary length. Area measures space inside. Distinguish when solving real-world problems with polygons.
