¿Qué es el sistema respiratorio?

El sistema respiratorio permite tomar oxígeno y eliminar dióxido de carbono con cada respiración. Es esencial para la vida y el funcionamiento celular.

Principales estructuras

Las estructuras clave son: nariz, faringe, laringe, tráquea, bronquios, pulmones y diafragma.

Nariz y entrada de aire

La nariz humidifica, filtra y calienta el aire antes de que llegue a los pulmones, reduciendo irritantes.

Tráquea y bronquios

La tráquea se bifurca en bronquios que llevan el aire a los pulmones para su distribución.

Pulmones y alvéolos

Los pulmones contienen alvéolos, donde ocurre el intercambio de oxígeno y dióxido de carbono con la sangre.

Pared torácica y diafragma

El diafragma y los músculos intercostales expanden la cavidad torácica para inhalar.

Inhalación

Durante la inhalación, el diafragma se contrae y el aire entra a los pulmones llenándolos de oxígeno.

Exhalación

Durante la exhalación, los músculos se relajan y el aire sale, liberando dióxido de carbono.

Intercambio gaseoso

En los alvéolos, el oxígeno pasa a la sangre y el CO2 sale de la sangre hacia el aire.

Cuidados del sistema respiratorio

Para cuidarlo, evita fumar, haz ejercicio regular y mantén buena higiene para vías respiratorias sanas.
