Before me, they were called the Third Estate. Who am I? Hints 1 I was formed on 17 June 1789. 2 Locked out of our usual room, we found a court — not for playing, but for promising. We swore we wouldn't leave until France had new rules. Hints 1 t happened on 20 June 1789, and the "court" wasn't a courtroom. 3 People attacked me not because I held many prisoners, but because I represented fear and the King's power. Hints 1 I was a state prison, and my fall is celebrated as a national holiday today. 4 I declared that every person is born free and equal, and deserves a fair trial. I became a landmark for human rights everywhere. Hints 1 The National Assembly adopted me right after the Bastille fell. 5 One of us means freedom. One means equal treatment. One means brotherhood. Together, we became the slogan of the Revolution. Hints 1 These three words came directly from the Declaration. 6 I tried to run to Germany with my Queen, but we were caught before we could escape Hints 1 I was the King of France before the Revolution. 7 They cut off my head in public, and with it, centuries of royal rule.
