Las culturas nativas de América abarcan pueblos diversos que desarrollaron sistemas complejos en distintos ecosistemas. Hoy exploramos a los mayas, aztecas e incas y su legado.

2. Mayas: ubicación y periodo

Los mayas florecieron en Mesoamérica, principalmente en Yucatán, Guatemala y Belice. Su periodo clásico duró aproximadamente entre los años 250 y 900 d.C., con ciudades-estado.

3. Mayas: avances científicos

Conocidos por astronomía, calendario preciso y matemáticas, los mayas desarrollaron métodos para medir eclipses y ciclos agrícolas esenciales para la vida diaria.

4. Mayas: escritura y ciudades

La jeroglífica maya plasmó historia, astronomía y religión. Ciudades como Tikal y Palenque fueron centros políticos y culturales influyentes.

Los aztecas se ubicaron en el valle de México. Su gran ciudad, Tenochtitlán, fue un centro político, religioso y comercial clave de la época.
