Welcome, learners! Today we explore how to compose and regroup numbers using friendly adds and splits.

Let’s have fun with numbers together!

Slide 2: What is Composing?

Composing means putting together smaller parts to make a bigger number. For example, 2 and 3 can make 5.

It’s like building with blocks.

Slide 3: What is Regrouping?

Regrouping is breaking a number into smaller parts. For example, 5 can be 4 + 1 or 2 + 3.

We rethink numbers to see different parts.

Slide 4: Simple Composing

Combine two numbers to form a bigger one: 3 + 2 = 5.

Try with different pairs: 1 + 4, 2 + 2.

Slide 5: Simple Regrouping

Break apart a number: 5 = 3 + 2 or 5 = 4 + 1.

Regrouping helps see all parts a number can have.
