A staff is a group of five parallel lines on which musical notes are written.

Notes can sit on lines or in spaces, and their vertical position tells you the pitch.

The treble clef places the G note on the second line from the bottom.

Many high-pitched songs are written in this clef.

Middle C sits between the treble and bass staves, often notated on a ledger line or with a small note between staves.
