Welcome to the Challenge

Embark on a team-based quest to assemble a computer using real-world steps. Follow safe practices and test your build at the end.

2

Key Components You’ll Use

Identify the main parts: motherboard, CPU, RAM, storage, GPU, PSU, case, and cooling. Know their roles in a system.

3

Safety First

Set up an anti-static workspace, wear a wrist strap, and handle components carefully to prevent damage.

4

Plan and Gather

Collect all components and tools. Check compatibility and prepare cable management for airflow and aesthetics.

5

Mounting the Heart

Install the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and heat sink. Secure components and align standoffs in the case.

6

Install Storage & GPU

Mount HDD/SSD, connect data/power cables, then add the graphics card if required. Route cables neatly.

7

Power and Cables

Connect the PSU to the motherboard and devices. Ensure cables are tidy and not pinched for airflow.

8

First Boot (POST)

Power on and watch for POST messages/beeps. Ensure monitor, keyboard, and mouse respond correctly.

9

Troubleshoot Like a Pro

If issues appear, diagnose with simple tests: reseat RAM, recheck cables, verify BIOS settings.

10

Showcase & Reflect

Demonstrate the completed build, discuss challenges, and note improvements for future projects.
