3 teens talk about their work life balance

Introduction

Many teenagers today are trying to balance school, health, and their social lives. But what should they really prioritise to feel happy?

Three teens share their problems, and an expert gives advice.

2

Linh (16)

I spend most of my time studying because I want to get into a good university. My parents say that succeeding in the future should be my priority. I don’t mind working hard, but I’m starting to feel stressed all the time.

Sometimes I stop to rest, but then I feel guilty for not studying.

I’ve even stopped going out with my friends. I know education is important, but I’m not sure if focusing only on studying is helping my mental health.

I want to feel more balanced, but I don’t know how.

3

Minh (17)

I care a lot about my physical health. I go to the gym almost every day and try to eat well. I enjoy taking care of my body, and it makes me feel strong and confident.

However, I sometimes avoid hanging out with my friends because I don’t want to miss a workout. Recently, I’ve started to feel a bit isolated. I love staying fit, but I’m beginning to wonder if I’m forgetting to enjoy life.

I want to feel satisfied, not just healthy.

4

An (16)

For me, money is really important. My family doesn’t have much, so I’ve started working part-time. I like earning my own money because it makes me feel more independent and stable.

But working and studying at the same time is exhausting. I keep telling myself to continue working, but I’m starting to feel overwhelmed. I don’t want to stop working because I need the money, but I also want to feel relaxed and relieved sometimes.

5

Dr. Kim (Happiness Expert)

All three students are facing very common problems. It’s important to remember that happiness is not about choosing one thing and ignoring everything else.

Linh needs to stop putting so much pressure on herself and start making time to relax. Minh should consider spending more time with friends instead of focusing only on physical health. An might benefit from learning to manage his time better and finding small ways to rest.

In the end, being happy means creating a balanced life. It’s not just about trying to succeed, staying fit, or earning money—it’s about learning to

enjoy the journey while taking care of both your mental health and physical health.
