EL ADVERBIO

Los adverbios son palabras que complementan a los verbos, a los adjetivos o incluso otros adverbios.

EL ADVERBIO

Se utilizan para expresar lugar, cantidad, tiempo, modo, duda, afirmación, etc. (Ej. ‘Compré mucha ropa’; “mucha” es adverbio de cantidad).

EL ADVERBIO

A diferencia del adjetivo (que debe coincidir en género y número con la palabra a la que complementa), el adverbio es siempre invariable. Por ejemplo, en las expresiones ‘Mi hija sabe mucho’, y ‘mis hijos saben mucho’, vemos que el adverbio mucho (que en este caso complementa al verbo saber) no varía, pese a que se cambia el género y el número del sustantivo (hijo).

EL ADVERBIO

Esta invariabilidad permite distinguir la presencia de un adverbio de la de un adjetivo: si se dice ‘Leyó bastante de literatura francesa’, el término “bastante” funciona como adverbio de cantidad, mientras que si se dice  ‘Leyó bastantes libros de literatura francesa’, esta palabra funciona como adjetivo, y  acompaña en número al sustantivo (en este caso, “libros”).
