1. HIPÓTESIS NEBULAR:

Formulada por Pierre Laplace (Francia), quien imaginó que una nebulosa redonda se movía lentamente sobre sí misma. Conforme se achicaba la velocidad aumentaba, desprendiéndose anillos de gases calientes, que al condensarse formarían esferas que se convertirían en planetas.

2. HIPÓTESIS DE LA NUBE DE POLVO:

Planteada por Von Weizacker (1993). Es la teoría más aceptada. Inicialmente debió existir una nube de polvo en rotación. El sol se formaría en el centro de la nube, mientras que el resto giraría entorno al sol como una rueda gigantesca. La nube se rompería, formando remolinos que al condensarse formarían los planetas y satélites, mientras que el hidrógeno y el helio escaparían al espacio.
