La leyenda del Mohan

LA LEYENDA DEL MOHAN
 

Esta es una de las más tradicionales narraciones de nuestro país, cuya ubicación no ha sido exactamente establecida ya que para muchos pertenece a la tradición de los andes huilenses, para otros al Departamento del Tolima y hasta de la región antioqueña razón por la que se le conoce condiversos nombres, tales como: El Mohan de Yarumal, El muan, El Tigre Mono, El Mohan del Tolima, entre otros.

Se le define como un ser de aspecto monstruoso, corpulento, de muy larga cabellera con la que cubre la mayor parte de su cuerpo, cara tosca y de miedoso aspecto. Son muchas las versiones que sobre el actuar de este personaje existen, sin embargo, en general, los pescadores de la región andina lo definen como travieso, andariego, buscador de aventuras, maligno, enredador y busca pleito con ellos, mientras que a las mujeres se les presenta como un sátiro, engañador enamorado y sucio.
