La virtud

En la antigüedad, la palabra virtud (areté) significaba «fuerza», «eficacia», en el sentido de una potencialidad, aquello que hace que se realice una perfección.
No tenía, pues, una connotación moral.

El alma tienen su virtud
• La parte racional: Su virtud es la sabiduría o prudencia . Se logra con el conocimiento de lo que se debe hacer ante cada circunstancia.
• La parte irascible: Su virtud es la fortaleza  de actuar de acuerdo con lo que nos dictado la prudencia y que, en muchas ocasiones, es contraria a los placeres.
• La parte concupiscible: Su virtud es la templanza , la moderación de los apetitos.

Virtudes intelectuales o dianoéticas:


Son las dirigidas al conocimiento de la verdad. Son los hábitos que satisfacen el apetito de saber. 

Las virtudes intelectuales son: ciencia, inteligencia, sabiduría y arte. En este sentido, decimos que alguien es virtuoso cuando ha cultivado el conocimiento.

Virtudes morales o éticas:

 Son las dirigidas a la búsqueda del término medio, a la prudencia. Las virtudes morales son: valor, templanza y liberalidad.Estas virtudes son aquellas mediante las cuales ponemos en práctica el conocimiento.
