Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body because of its high mineral content about 96% hydroxyapatite, a crystalline form of calcium phosphate. This dense mineral structure gives enamel its extreme hardness and durability.

The pulp is the part of the tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. It is located in the center of the tooth, inside the pulp chamber and root canals.

Dentin is the second hardest substance in the human body because of its composition and function.

Molars are primarily used for grinding food because of their structure, strength, and function in digestion.

The crown is the visible part of the tooth above the gum line because of its structure and function.

The periodontal ligament (PDL) connects the tooth root to the jawbone because it serves several essential functions that support the tooth and enable it to withstand everyday forces.

Canines are sharp and used for tearing food because of their shape, position, and function in the mouth.

- Dentin is made up of about 70% hydroxyapatite, which makes it strong but less brittle than enamel. It provides a flexible, supportive layer for the enamel, preventing it from cracking or chipping when subjected to pressure from chewing. - The pulp inside the tooth contains nerves and blood vessels, making it sensitive to injury. Dentin acts as a protective buffer, ensuring that the pulp stays shielded from external forces, decay, or temperature extremes. The thicker the dentin, the better it protects the pulp.

The gingival margin marks the point where the enamel of the tooth meets the gum tissue.

Incisors have thin, flat edges that make them excellent for slicing through food. Their shape allows them to make precise cuts when biting into food like fruits, vegetables, and other soft items. Unlike molars or canines, which are designed for tearing or grinding, incisors are shaped to cut through food easily.
