The importance of sports at school is to encourage children to develop the right attitudes, and to show that it doesn't matter how good you are. If you can't run as fast as an Olympic athlete, that doesn't matter but more importantly you run as fast as you can. Sports can teach children the value of teamwork unlike academic subjects where you are rewarded for individual effort. Sports at school give children a chance to be proud of their achievements.

There are obvious benefits in having good sports classes at school. Children stay fit and learn the importance of fair play. Schools can introduce children to sports they would never otherwise have the opportunity of doing. Unfortunately, sports are often regarded as optional by certain schools but they should offer a wide range of sports from the most popular ones, like football and basketball, to the less popular ones, like table tennis and climbing.

The original Olympic spirit of Classical Greece is that sports encourage peaceful competition and I think that's more important than ever before. Sports can teach you how to be disciplined, how to stay focused on what you're doing and how to motivate yourself to achieve your goal. It isn’t necessary that sports are a display of aggression and anger that you see in football matches sometimes.
