A fórmula fundamental da trigonometria diz nos que a soma de seno e cosseno ao quadrado é 1.

O primeiro quadrante encontra-se delimitado por ]0,pi/2[, o segundo quadrante é ]pi/2, pi[, o terceiro quadrante é ]pi, (3*pi)/2[, o quarto quadrante é ](3*pi)/2, 0[.

A tangente de 45 é 1, pois a tangente de 45 é dada pela quociente entre seno(45º) e cos(45º), onde ambos são sqrt(2)/2.

Usando a regra de três simples, descobre o valor pretendido sabendo que pi rad corresponde a 180º.
