Lane arrows indicate the allowed direction of travel. Obeying them ensures orderly traffic flow and prevents collisions at intersections.

Always drive at a speed that is safe for the conditions, even if the speed limit is higher. This means adjusting speed for traffic, weather, road conditions, and your own ability to control the vehicle.

Double white lines mean that overtaking or parking is prohibited (not allowed). Drivers must stay to the left of the lines at all times, maintaining lane discipline and safety.

Seat belts reduce the risk of serious injury or death by restraining occupants during collisions, preventing them from being thrown forward or ejected (thrown out) from the vehicle.

Children must be properly restrained in the appropriate seat for their age and size. Allowing an unrestrained child in the front is unsafe and illegal.

You are legally required to provide accurate contact and vehicle details to ensure accountability and allow the other party to make insurance or legal claims.

This prevents glare and improves visibility for other drivers.

Blind spots are areas around your vehicle that you cannot see using mirrors. Pillars (the sides that hold up the roof of the car) and mirrors themselves can block vision, so always check over your shoulder when changing lanes

A tow rope must be short enough to keep the towed vehicle under control and avoid collisions. 4.6 metres is the maximum safe length.

Pedestrians always have priority at crossings, regardless of road markings. You must slow down and stop if anyone is crossing.

Your first responsibility is to human life, not the vehicle. Stop immediately, check for injuries, assist within your ability, and call emergency services. Failing to stop is a serious offence.

Skidding happens when tyres lose grip with the road. Heavy acceleration spins wheels, heavy braking locks them, sudden steering shifts weight, unsealed roads reduce traction, and wet surfaces reduce friction.

Full beam lights reflect off fog, reducing visibility. Dipped headlights aim light downward, allowing you to see the road while letting other drivers see you.

Flat-decked vehicles have no enclosed rear body, so they must show a red rear light visible from 100 metres. This warns approaching drivers of the vehicle’s presence to prevent collisions.

Pedestrians have priority. Drivers must reduce speed, check both sides of the road, and stop if anyone is waiting, walking, or about to cross.

A tyre blowout can pull the vehicle to one side. Grip the wheel firmly, keep straight, slow down gradually, brake gently, and pull over safely. Sudden movements can cause loss of control.

On roads without lane markings, always drive on the left side. Maintain safe clearance from oncoming traffic, pedestrians, and parked vehicles.

Do not overtake where visibility is limited (less than 100m), at intersections, near rail crossings, or under unsafe conditions. Crossing a solid white line is also prohibited. These areas are high-risk and overtaking could cause accidents.

Intersections include T-junctions, crossroads, Y-junctions, or any location where vehicles meet. Give-way rules must be applied to prevent collisions.

This sign warns that a circular traffic system is ahead. Vehicles must move in a loop and give way to traffic already in the roundabout.
