Las treces colonias habían prosperado económicamente, pero se veían obstaculizadas por las políticas impuestas por Gran Bretaña.

Provocó una migración masiva del campo a la cuidad, lo que llevó a la urbanización. Las ciudades crecieron rápidamente y se convirtieron en centros industriales, lo que cambió radicalmente la estructura de la sociedad.

Su constitución, redactada en 1787 , se convirtió en un hito en la historia del constitucionalismo moderno y sirvió como modelo para otras naciones que buscaban establecer gobiernos democráticos.

Esta revolución derrocó al sistema monárquico absolutista que había gobernado durante siglos y estableció la primera república. La revolución demostró que era posible desafiar y eliminar el poder monárquico y aristocrático.
