Testosterone is produced by the testes. It causes male secondary sexual characteristics such as deeper voice, facial hair, and muscle development during puberty.

Sperm cells are produced in the testes through a process called spermatogenesis. The prostate gland adds fluid to semen, while the vas deferens only transports sperm.

Progesterone prepares and maintains the uterine lining (endometrium) for pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs, progesterone keeps the uterus suitable for embryo development.

Fertilization normally occurs in the fallopian tube when a sperm cell meets and fuses with an ovum (egg). The fertilized egg then moves to the uterus for implantation.

A surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) triggers ovulation, which is the release of a mature egg from the ovary.

The uterus is the organ where the fertilized egg implants and develops into an embryo and later a fetus during pregnancy.

After fertilization and implantation of the embryo in the uterus, the placenta starts producing hCG.

FSH stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles in the ovary. Each follicle contains an egg that may later be released during ovulation.

During each menstrual cycle, usually one dominant follicle releases one secondary oocyte during ovulation, triggered by a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH).
