Textbooks teach though at the beginning of a sentence. But corpus research shows that in conversation, though usually comes at the end.

Own is a state verb. Textbooks sometimes teach that state verbs don't take -ing, but students overuse it anyway. Corpus shows native speakers rarely say "I am owning."

Corpus research shows get is most common with negative adjectives (angry, tired, lost, sick). Get happy is grammatically correct but very rare.

In conversation, native speakers often use past tense (wanted, needed, wondered) to be more polite. Textbooks don't always teach this.

Corpus research shows the most common passive verbs in academic speech are called, done, used, given, made. Conducted appears, but called is actually more frequent in university classes.
