التقريب إلى أقرب عدد صحيح يرفع الأعداد التي تبدأ بالـ .5 وما فوق إلى أعلى.

عند كسر العشر إلى أقرب صحيح، إذا كان الجزء العشري أقل من 0.5 يبقى الصحيـح كما هو.

عند أي رقم عشري يساوي 0.5، يتم التقريب غالباً لأعلى.

لأن الجزء العشري قريب من 1، فيرتفع إلى 8.

الجزء العشري 0.04 أقل من 0.5 فلا يتغير الصحيح.
