La conquista comenzó en 711 con Tariq ibn Ziyad y la batalla de Guadalete. Las otras fechas son posteriores o incurren en personajes distintos.

Al inicio fue emirato dependiente de Damasco, no independiente.

Abderramán I funda la dinastía omeya en 756; en 929 Abderramán III se proclamó califa.

Córdoba tuvo ~500.000 habitantes y fue la mayor ciudad de Europa.

Almanzor dirigió las razias; los otros fueron califas o dinastías.

La etapa 1031-1248 se caracteriza por la división en taifas.

Intervinieron los almorávides y luego los almohades en esas fechas.

Las Navas de Tolosa en 1212 fue decisiva.

El reino nazarí de Granada perduró hasta 1492.

Entre aportes están números arábigos, álgebra y palabras en castellano.
