Explicación

El metro es la unidad base de longitud en el SI; las otras son unidades de masa, tiempo y temperatura.

1 kilómetro equivale a 1000 metros; 0,001 m sería 1 mm, no 1 km.

Para objetos comunes se usa el mm o cm; el m es para distancias grandes y el km para grandes.

1 m = 100 cm, por tanto 0.25 m = 25 cm.

El nm es 1e-9 m; µm es 1e-6 m para longitudes microscópicas grandes.

La Ångström es común en química para distancias atómicas; 1 Å = 0.1 nm.

Un milímetro es 0.001 m; 1 cm es 0.01 m.

La altura humana se expresa comúnmente en cm; el m sería excesivo para estaturas.

Se usan m para distancias moderadas y km para distancias grandes; cm y nm serían inapropiadas.

Un lápiz suele medir entre 5–20 cm; cm es la unidad natural, no km o nm.
