Prime numbers have exactly two distinct positive divisors: 1 and itself.

Composite numbers have more than two positive divisors.

Prime factorization uses prime factors only; 60 = 2^2 · 3 · 5.

Index notation uses a base (3) raised to an exponent (4).

Square root finds a number that squares to 36; 6^2 = 36.

Cube root is a number that cubes to 27; 3^3 = 27.
