La forma general es ax^2 + bx + c = 0, con a ≠ 0.

Se sustituyen en ax^2+bx+c: 1·x^2 + (-3)·x + 2 = x^2 - 3x + 2.

Δ determina cuántas soluciones reales tiene la ecuación: 0, 1 o 2.

Resuelves: x^2 = 4, x = ±2, dos soluciones.

La fórmula cuadrática es esa, con Δ = b^2 - 4ac.

Si c=0, la ecuación se factoriza como x(ax+b)=0.

x^2+4x = (x+2)^2 - 4; luego restas -5.

Con Δ>0 hay dos soluciones reales distintas.

Δ = b^2 - 4ac = 0^2 - 4(2)(-8) = 64.

Δ = 0 implica una única solución real repetida.
