قُتل عمر بعد أن تولى الخلافة خلفًا لأبي بكر الصديق فهو الثاني من الخلفاء الراشدين.

لقب عمر الفاروق لتمييزه بين الحق والباطل في عدله وحكمه.

بدأت الخلافة في السنة 13 هـ بعد وفاة أبي بكر الصديق كما جرى في التاريخ الإسلامي.

اعتمد عمر على الشورى واستشارة أهل الرأي من الصحابة في قراراته الكبرى.

عمر أسس تنظيم المال العام عبر بيت المال وتطوير ديوان العطاء والخراج.

عمر اعتمد على شورى الصحابة لاختيار الخلفاء من بعده.

من كتبه التنظيمية أنشأ نظم الدواوين مثل ديوان الخراج لتنظيم المال العام.

عرف عمر بعدالته وكان صارمًا في تطبيق الحق وتثبيت العدل.

عمر نظم أجهزة الدولة وتوحيد جهود الجيوش للحملات وتثبيت الأمن الداخلي والخارجي.

سيرته العطرة تشتهر بالعدل مع المسلمين وغيرهم، ورعاية مصالح الرعايا وسؤال المخالفين بالحق.
