We are comparing two animals using than. Since big is a short adjective, we add -er. We double the "g" because it ends in consonant-vowel-consonant.

We are looking for the "number one" planet in distance from a whole group (the solar system). Far is an irregular adjective, and its superlative form is farthest.

We are comparing two things using than. Exciting is a long adjective (3 syllables), so we must use more before the word instead of adding "-er".

We are choosing the top girl out of a whole group (her class), so we need a superlative (the...). Tall is a short adjective, so we add -est.

We are comparing two superheroes using than. Since strong is a short adjective, we simply add -er to the end.

This ice cream is the number one in the whole shop (superlative). Because delicious is a long adjective, we place most before it.

We are comparing two pets. The adjective friendly ends in -y, so the rule says we change the -y to an -i and then add -er.

We are comparing two school subjects. Good is an irregular adjective. Just like in Spanish we don't say "more good", in English we must change it completely to better.

This is the number one bad movie out of all the movies ever seen (superlative). Bad is irregular, so its superlative form changes completely to worst.

Cheetahs are the number one in speed out of all land animals. Fast is a short adjective, so we combine it with the and add -est.
