Explicación

El VIH es el virus que ataca el sistema inmune; SIDA es la etapa avanzada de la infección.

SIDA es la fase avanzada cuando el sistema inmune está muy debilitado.

El virus se transmite por fluidos corporales; no se transmite por aire o contacto casual.

La saliva en niveles normales no transmite el VIH; el caso es muy raro y no aplica en la mayoría de besos.

Se buscan anticuerpos o la carga viral para confirmar la infección.

El uso de condones, pruebas y no compartir agujas evitan la transmisión.

Sin tratamiento, el VIH reduce el sistema inmune y facilita infecciones graves.

Con atención médica y profilaxis, el riesgo de transmisión madre-hijo puede reducirse.

La educación reduce miedos, promueve pruebas y prevención.

La pronta prueba y asesoría aumentan las posibilidades de manejo.
