Explicación

El VIH es un retrovirus que ataca CD4; no es una vacuna ni un antibiótico.

El VIH se transmite por fluidos corporales, no por aire ni picaduras de insectos.

La saliva contiene muy poca carga viral; la transmisión por saliva es rara.

El VIH no se transmite por agua ni objetos inertes.

Los métodos eficaces son preservativos y PrEP; antibióticos no previenen VIH.

La transmisión vertical es posible, pero el tratamiento reduce significativamente el riesgo.

Se usan pruebas de anticuerpos y/o ARN/CT para VIH.

Durante la ventana serológica, aún no hay anticuerpos detectables.

Sin tratamiento, VIH puede avanzar a SIDA; con tratamiento, puede mantenerse estable.

La educación, pruebas y luchar contra el estigma son esenciales para prevención.
