In Tag Rugby, a tackle is completed by removing one of the two tags from the defender's belt.

Removing any one tag ends the ball carrier's run and ends the current phase.

Tag Rugby is a non-contact version; contact is not allowed.

Passing forward is not allowed; the ball must move sideways or backwards.

After a tag, play restarts with a handover/reset by the attacking team.

Players wear belts carrying two removable tags that defenders must remove.

Many leagues play 6-a-side, though formats vary by competition.

Tag Rugby generally avoids scrums and line-outs; play restarts differently.

Like rugby, a try can be scored by grounding the ball in the opponent's in-goal area after any legal play.

Kicking is not a common or required restart in Tag Rugby; restarts use passes or handovers.
