Ikhfa syafawi menyamarkan mim dan ba yang datang setelah huruf tertentu dengan dengung halus.

Idgham mimi terjadi ketika mim bertemu huruf-huruf tertentu (tm). Dua mim dekat diucapkan dengung panjang.

Idzhar syafawi berarti membaca mim secara jelas tanpa memasukkan dengung ketika bertemu huruf tertentu.

Idgham bighunnah membawa dengung (ghunnah) yang panjang sekitar 4 suku kata.

Ikhfa syafawi menonjolkan penyamaran mim dengan dengung halus.

Idgham mimi terjadi hanya ketika mim bertemu huruf-huruf tertentu; di luar itu tidak terjadi.

Izhar syafawi terjadi saat mim sukun bertemu huruf-huruf tertentu secara jelas tanpa dengung.
