3

The vertical rise is 3 m and the path to the shelf is the hypotenuse 5 m. What is the horizontal distance?

4

Mr Sheep needs a beam 6 m up and the base is 2 m away; what is the ladder length (hypotenuse)?

5

A television screen has the diagonal size of 3.6 m and and has a base length of 3 m. What is the width of the television?

6

Is a triangle with the values of 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm a right-angled triangle?

Feedback

For a 3-4-5 right triangle, the hypotenuse is 5.

3-4-5 triangle gives hypotenuse 5.

Horizontal leg = sqrt(5^2 - 3^2) = sqrt(16) = 4.

Hypotenuse = sqrt(6^2 + 2^2) = sqrt(40) ≈ 6.32.

Other leg = sqrt(3.6^2 - 3^2) = sqrt(12.96 - 9) = sqrt(3.96) ≈ 1.99 ≈ 2.0.
