الفأرة تُستخدم لإدخال الحركة والنقرات، وليست لعرض المحتوى أو التخزين أو تشغيل النظام.

الشاشة تعرض الإخراج البصري، بينما المعالج والفأرة واللوحة مفاتيح لها وظائف مدخل/output مختلطة أو داخليّة.
