Nouns name people, places, things, or ideas.

Adjectives describe attributes of nouns.

Adverbs mainly modify verbs, but can also modify adjectives or other adverbs.

Prepositions relate words within a sentence (e.g., con, a, en, de).

Conjunctions connect words or clauses (e.g., y, o, pero, porque).

Interjections express emotions or reactions (e.g., ¡Ah!, ¡Uf!, ¡Ay!).

Acute words have the strongest beat on the last syllable in Spanish.

Tú with an accent marks the subject pronoun; tu without accent is a possessive determiner.

Él is capitalized when used as a pronoun; días has an accent.

Diphthongs occur when two vowels are in the same syllable, as in aire.
