Mito: ¿Cómo nacieron el sol y la luna?

En un principio, la Tierra estaba cubierta por una inmensa noche y sólo la habitaban dos personas: el Cacique de Iraca y el Cacique de Ramiriquì.
Ellos, solos y aburridos, decidieron llenarla de seres humanos: hicieron varios muñecos de barro que serían los cuerpos de los hombres. Simultáneamente, formaron otros cuerpos esbeltos y hermosos, hechos de juncos flexibles: los de la mujer. Así nació la raza humana.
Pero las tinieblas mantenían al ser humano en la más desesperante oscuridad. Muy triste, el Cacique de Iraca pidió a su sobrino, el Cacique de Ramiriquì, que fuera a las alturas a traer la luz para el mundo. El Cacique subía y subía y, a tal altura llegó, que se convirtió en un astro fulgurante que iluminó la Tierra y la humanidad. El Cacique de Ramiriquì se había convertido en el Sol. La humanidad no había conocido dicha igual, pues además de la luz, recibía calor para abrigarse y veía crecer las plantas para su alimento.
Viendo el cacique de Iraca que cuando el sol se ocultaba llegaba el frío y la oscuridad, siguió el camino de su sobrino y se convirtió en un astro pero menos luminoso: la Luna.
Desde entonces, los chibchas adoraron el Sol (Zuè) y la Luna (Chía) y levantaron en su honor templos majestuosos como El templo del Sol, en Sogamoso.
