La OMS define como Salud al estado ideal de bienestar físico, psíquico y social. Este estado de salud repercute de manera directa en la calidad de vida y en las pautas de conducta de la persona para poder desarrollarse plenamente dentro de la sociedad de la que forma parte.

La presente Unidad Didáctica busca, a través de inculcar en los alumnos/as hábitos de higiene saludables, incrementar este estado de bienestar, el cual repercute directamente en las relaciones sociales de la persona, así como ayudar a crear medidas preventivas para evitar posibles enfermedades.

Según Fernández García et al. (2002), los niños pasan por tres fases en la creación y consolidación de hábitos saludables. En un comienzo deben ir elaborando hábitos de higiene corporal y postural, hacer un uso correcto de los materiales e ir adoptando las medidas básicas de seguridad.
