How to identify yourself on Educaplay with ClassLink
What the ClassLink connection does
If your school uses ClassLink, teachers and students can identify themselves on Educaplay with their usual ClassLink account, without creating new passwords: teachers get into their Educaplay account and students play identified by their name, with no need to sign up.
Two ways in
From ClassLink
Open the Educaplay app in your ClassLink LaunchPad and you'll come in already identified. If the app isn't there, ask your school's ClassLink administrator to add it.
From Educaplay
Click the ClassLink button in the Use your usual account box. You'll find it on the Log in and Sign up screens, and also in the games' Click here to identify yourself panel.
What happens depending on your account type
Student accounts
The student is identified only by their name, just like when they play from the Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams or other LTI integrations, or when they identify with a nickname. Their games are recorded under that name and nothing more: no Educaplay account is created for them and they cannot create games. Remember that your students never need an account to play.
Teacher, parent or administrator accounts
When you identify yourself with any other type of ClassLink account, your Educaplay account is created automatically or, if you already had one linked to that email, you go straight into it. It is an account like any other: you can create games, share them and check your Reports. More information in How to create your Educaplay account.
Where the scores end up
The games of players identified with ClassLink are recorded in the Reports section of your account, like any identified game, with each player's score and time. You'll find the detail in How your players' scores are saved.
Frequently asked questions
Do my students need an Educaplay account?
No. With their ClassLink student account they are identified by their name and their games are recorded in your Reports, without signing up and without creating any account.
Can I force my students to identify themselves before playing?
Yes. With an Advanced, Academic or Commercial plan, turn on Player identification as Required in the game's advanced options and no one will be able to play without identifying themselves first.
Do the scores reach a gradebook?
ClassLink is an identification system, not a virtual classroom, so games are recorded in Educaplay's Reports. If you also use Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle or Canvas, those integrations do send the score to the platform's gradebook.
I can't see the Educaplay app in my LaunchPad
LaunchPad apps are managed by your school or district's ClassLink administrator: ask them to add Educaplay. In the meantime, you can still identify yourself from Educaplay with the ClassLink button.
