How your players' scores are saved
We are committed to continuously improving your experience; some elements of the video interface may not match the current one.
How it works
Educaplay automatically records each player's scores as long as they identify themselves before starting the game. If the player doesn't identify themselves, the play is still saved as Anonymous: it is recorded in your Reports, but you won't know who played it.
For each game, the player's answers, the time they took and the score obtained are saved.
Four ways to identify
With a nickname
The player enters a temporary username, without signing up. The scores are saved against that nickname while the browser stays open.
With a guest code
As a teacher, you create a guest profile from your account and get a guest code. You give it to the player, who enters it when joining the game by clicking Guest code. They can also get in with their direct link or their QR code. Their scores are recorded in the guest profile you created.
With a ClassLink school account
If the player's school uses ClassLink, all they need to do is click the ClassLink button when identifying themselves and log in with their student school account. They are identified by their name, just like when they play from the Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams or other LTI integrations, or when they type a nickname, and their games are recorded under that name, without any Educaplay account being created for them.
By logging in with an Educaplay account
The player signs up for free on Educaplay, with their email or with their Google, Microsoft or ClassLink account, and creates their own profile. By logging in before playing, all their scores are linked to their account permanently. What's more, with their account they'll be able to create their own games.
Player identification as Required
With an Advanced plan, Academic or Commercial plan, in the game's advanced options you can turn on Player identification as Required to stop anyone from playing without identifying themselves first. When you turn it on, you also choose which of the ways to identify above are enabled for that game. In Challenges and in platform integrations (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle, Canvas…), identification is automatic or enforced by the platform itself.
Where the scores are viewed
All recorded scores are kept in the Reports section of your account. You can filter the results by player or by game to see performance in detail.
How long the data is kept depends on your plan: 1 month on the Basic plan, 3 months on the Advanced plan, 1 year on the Academic plan and 5 years on the Commercial plan. With the Academic and Commercial plans you'll also see each player's specific answers, including those to open questions.
Frequently asked questions
How are players' scores saved?
They are always saved. If the player identifies themselves before playing (with a nickname, with a guest code, with their ClassLink school account or by logging in with their Educaplay account), the play is recorded under their name. If they don't, it is recorded as Anonymous.
Do players need to create an account for their scores to be saved?
No. They can identify themselves with a temporary nickname or with a guest code you give them or, if their school uses ClassLink, with their student school account. Creating an Educaplay account is optional, although it has the advantage that scores are linked to their profile permanently.
Can my students identify themselves with their ClassLink account?
Yes. If your school uses ClassLink, all they need to do is click the ClassLink button when identifying themselves and log in with their school account: they are recorded under their name, without creating any Educaplay account. You will find all the details in How to identify yourself on Educaplay with ClassLink.
What are the anonymous plays in my Reports?
They are plays from players who did not identify themselves before playing. They are recorded like any other, with their score and their time, but under the name Anonymous and with one entry per play: they are not grouped by person, so you cannot tell who played each one. They appear in the three Reports tabs, in the Excel download and in the game's Top 10 ranking, but you cannot find them with the player search box. If you want every play to carry a name, turn on Player identification as Required.
Can I force them to identify themselves before playing?
Yes, with an Advanced plan, Academic or Commercial. In the game's advanced options, turn on Player identification as Required and no one will be able to play without identifying themselves. Right there you also choose which ways to identify you enable.
Where do I see the scores?
In the Reports section of your Educaplay account. If you've integrated the game into Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle, Canvas or another educational platform, the scores also appear in that platform's gradebook.
How long are the scores kept?
1 month on the Basic plan, 3 months on the Advanced plan, 1 year on the Academic plan and 5 years on the Commercial plan. Data retention starts from the date you took out the plan; it doesn't work retroactively.
Can I delete a game's accumulated scores?
Yes. In My games, open the game's Options menu (···) and select Reset rankings. The accumulated scores are deleted and the ranking starts from zero. This action can't be undone.
Are the scores from a Multiplayer Session saved?
The live session itself is not saved as such, but each identified player’s performance is recorded in Reports as a normal game of that Froggy Jumps, with their Accuracy score. The Arcade score (which rewards speed) is only used for the leaderboard and the podium during the session.
