How to use Educaplay from ChatGPT
You can also use Educaplay from Gemini and Claude. For the overview, read Create Educaplay games from ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.
What you can do
Educaplay is in the ChatGPT plugin directory. Once installed, you ask ChatGPT for the game in the same conversation where you plan your lesson and it builds it in your Educaplay account: it writes the questions, adds images, generates the audio for dictations and dialogues, attaches a YouTube video to a Video Quiz, classifies it and, when you ask, publishes it. It works for 20 of the 21 game types (every one except the Map Quiz) and also for reviewing and publishing games you already had.
Nothing is published until you say so. The games stay under My games and you share them as always. Your students don't need ChatGPT.
Requirements
- An Educaplay account (your Google, Microsoft or ClassLink account works).
- A ChatGPT account. OpenAI warns that plugin availability depends on the plan, the region and the workspace; in ChatGPT workspaces (schools and companies) an admin turns them on. If you don't see the Install plugin button, ask whoever manages your workspace.
- Educaplay plans: all of them.
How to connect it
- Open Educaplay's page in the ChatGPT directory or search for "Educaplay" under Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar.
- Click Install plugin.
- In the window that opens, sign in to Educaplay and click Authorize. The authorization lasts one year; you don't repeat it in every conversation.
How to create your first game
Start the request with "Educaplay" or just ask naturally; ChatGPT suggests the plugin when it fits. For example: "Educaplay, create a 10-question quiz about the water cycle for 10-year-olds." The reply includes a card with the game and the Open in editor and Play links.
Before important actions, such as publishing, ChatGPT asks for confirmation: you can choose Allow or Always allow.
What else you can ask for
- "Turn this text into a crossword for my students."
- "Add an image to each question of my water cycle quiz."
- "Publish my water cycle quiz so my students can play it."
- "Show me my latest Educaplay games."
ChatGPT writes the text of the game. Classifying the game or describing images uses the Ray budget of your plan, and audio uses the plan's audio quota, as in the editor.
What you still do on the website
Uploading your own files, deleting and duplicating games, organizing folders and creating Map Quizzes: from My games and the editor, as before.
How to disconnect it
In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Plugins, open Educaplay and uninstall it (or from Plugins in the sidebar: under Installed, ⋯ menu → Uninstall). To cut off access from Educaplay, in your profile settings, under Application tokens, click Revoke on the ChatGPT connection.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with ChatGPT's free plan?
In our tests, yes: a free ChatGPT account in Spain has it installed and has created and published games with it. OpenAI warns that plugin availability depends on the plan, the region and the workspace; if the page doesn't show you the Install plugin button, that is why.
Do I have to type "Educaplay" in every message?
You don't have to, but it helps: that way ChatGPT knows the game goes to Educaplay instead of writing it out in the chat.
Can I keep editing the game in Educaplay?
Yes. It is a regular game in your account: open it in the editor from the card or from My games and change whatever you like.
Why does it ask me to confirm when publishing?
ChatGPT runs low-risk tools without asking and asks for confirmation for the rest, such as publishing. You can change that under Settings → Plugins → Educaplay.
Do my students have to use ChatGPT?
No. They play by link, from Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams or your platform, with no ChatGPT account.
What can ChatGPT do in my account?
What you can do from the website: create, edit and publish games and check your reports. You can revoke it at any time from Application tokens.
