How to use Educaplay from Claude
You can also use Educaplay from ChatGPT and Gemini. For the overview, read Create Educaplay games from ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.
What you can do
In Claude, Educaplay is added as a custom connector. Once added, you ask Claude for the game in the conversation where you plan your lesson and it builds it in your Educaplay account: it writes the questions, adds images, generates the audio for dictations and dialogues, attaches a YouTube video to a Video Quiz, classifies it and, when you ask, publishes it. It works for 20 of the 21 game types (every one except the Map Quiz) and also for reviewing and publishing games you already had.
Nothing is published until you say so. The games stay under My games and you share them as always. Your students don't need Claude.
Requirements
- An Educaplay account (your Google, Microsoft or ClassLink account works).
- A Claude account. The free plan allows one custom connector. On the Team and Enterprise plans an organization owner adds it (Organization settings → Connectors) and then each person connects it with their own Educaplay account. More in Anthropic's documentation.
- Educaplay plans: all of them.
How to connect it
- Open the install link. Claude opens "Add custom connector" with the name "Educaplay" and the address already filled in, plus a notice that the connector was suggested by an external link: check that the name is Educaplay and that the address starts with
https://api.educaplay.com/. Without the link: Settings → Customize → Connectors → Add → Add custom connector, and type the name and the addresshttps://api.educaplay.com/v1/agent/mcp/. - Click Add. If your Claude shows a second step with sign-in options, leave them as they are and click Add again.
- Click Connect, sign in to Educaplay and click Authorize. The authorization lasts one year; you don't repeat it in every conversation.
- In a chat, click + → Connectors and check that Educaplay is turned on.
How to create your first game
Just ask: "Turn this into a crossword" or "Create a 10-question quiz about the water cycle for 10-year-olds". Claude shows you the tools it is about to use (with names such as create_activity or publish_activity) and asks for permission the first time: Allow once or Allow always. The game lands under My games; ask for the link if you want it in the chat.
What else you can ask for
- "Add an image to each question of my water cycle quiz."
- "Add audio to this dictation."
- "Publish my water cycle quiz so my students can play it."
- "Show me my latest Educaplay games."
Claude writes the text of the game. Classifying the game or describing images uses the Ray budget of your plan, and audio uses the plan's audio quota, as in the editor.
What you still do on the website
Uploading your own files, deleting and duplicating games, organizing folders and creating Map Quizzes: from My games and the editor, as before.
How to disconnect it
In Claude, Settings → Customize → Connectors → Educaplay → Remove (or the ⋯ menu). To cut off access from Educaplay, in your profile settings, under Application tokens, click Revoke on the Claude connection.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with Claude's free plan?
Yes, as long as you don't already have another custom connector: the free plan allows one.
I get an "external link" notice. Is that normal?
Yes. Claude shows it for any connector that arrives through a link. Check the name and the address and carry on.
I'm on a Team or Enterprise plan and I can't add it
An organization owner has to add it under Organization settings → Connectors. After that, you connect it with your own Educaplay account.
Do my students have to use Claude?
No. They play by link, from Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams or your platform, with no Claude account.
What can Claude do in my account?
What you can do from the website: create, edit and publish games and check your reports. You can revoke it at any time from Application tokens.
