Reports: what they are and how they work
We are committed to continuously improving your experience; some elements of the video interface may not match the current one.
What they're for
Educaplay automatically records the data from every game and organizes it in the Reports section. From there you can follow your players' activity, analyze each game's performance and see how your work evolves over time.
What gets recorded
Every play of your games is recorded in the Reports. For a play to appear under a player's name, they must have identified themselves before playing, either with a nickname, with a guest code, with their ClassLink school account or with their Educaplay account. Plays from anyone who does not identify themselves are recorded as Anonymous.
The three tabs
Players
The view focused on your students, and the one that opens by default. It shows the games played, the average accuracy and the total time played for the period, along with the recent activity across all your games.
Search for a player or select one or several in the list (checkboxes) to filter the whole report. Once selected, besides their data you'll see their accuracy distribution, how their accuracy evolves compared with the class average, the questions they fail most often (with the answer they gave and the correct one) and a calendar with the minutes they play each day. With the Filter by players option you can limit the view to your guests and filter them by group.
Games
The view focused on your activities: published games, total plays, average accuracy and average duration, plus the list of all your games sorted by plays, with their rating. Click any row to open the game's detailed report: player ranking, overall accuracy, score distribution, question performance, average time per question and recurring mistakes (the questions players fail most, with the most common wrong answer).
With the Game format filter you can switch from Games to Challenges to check the reports of your Challenges, and with Type filter by game type.
Trends
Shows how your work is evolving by comparing the current period with the previous one: plays, active players, accuracy and hours played; plays over time; the most-played activity types; your daily rhythm (with your streaks); and how far your players get (recorded matches, passed ≥50% and excellent ≥90%).
Seeing the details of each match
In any table of plays, click the + icon on a row to expand the question-by-question detail: the answer the player gave, whether it was right or wrong, and the correct answer. The full answer breakdown and the mistake sections require an Academic plan or Commercial plan.
Filters
- By content: in Players you can search for and select specific players (or only guests); in Games, search for a game and filter by format (Games/Challenges) and by type.
- By date: predefined periods (last year, last month, last week, last day) or a custom range with the Date button. In Trends you choose between last year, last 3 months or last month.
Downloading and exporting the results
With an Academic plan or Commercial plan, at the top right you have two ways to take your Reports with you:
- Download all (or Download, with a player or game selected): an Excel file with several sheets (period summary, players, match-by-match results, question-by-question answer breakdown and most common mistakes).
- Open in Google Sheets: creates a Google Sheets document with that same data. It includes a Refresh data button to pull the period's results again without going into Educaplay. We explain it step by step in How to create a Google Sheets document with your Reports.
Both buttons respect the filters you have applied (player, game and dates), so you export exactly what you're seeing.
What about your own scores?
You appear as just another player: use the search box in the Players tab to find yourself and check your games.
Other ways to open the reports
You don't always have to go through the main menu:
- From My games: open the Options menu (···) of any published game and choose Reports to go straight to that activity's detailed report.
- The reports of your Challenges are in the Games tab, switching the Game format filter to Challenges. In My challenges, the eye icon shows the Challenge's ranking.
Integration with educational platforms
If you integrate your games into an educational platform (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.), the scores are recorded both in Educaplay and in the platform's grade book, so you can track them from either place.
The only exception: SCORM integrations. Those games are only recorded in the platform's grade book; they don't appear in Educaplay's Reports.
How long the data is kept
It depends on your plan:
- Basic plan: 1 month.
- Advanced plan: 3 months.
- Academic plan: 1 year, with detailed answers from each player (including those to open questions).
- Commercial plan: 5 years, with detailed answers.
Data retention starts from the date you took out the plan; it doesn't work retroactively.
Reports API
If you need to bring your Reports data into your own systems, Educaplay offers a Reports API to query your players' scores programmatically. It's available on the Academic and Commercial plans, both individual and Team. You'll find the documentation at api.educaplay.com/docs/, also linked from Developers in Educaplay's footer.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't a player's results appear?
Most likely they did not identify themselves before playing: in that case their play is recorded, but as Anonymous. You will find it in the Games tab, under the game in question. To stop this from happening again, turn on Player identification as Required in the game editor.
Can I see each player's specific answers?
Yes. Expand any play with the + icon to see the question-by-question detail, or check the mistake sections (per player in the Players tab, and per game in the detailed report). For this breakdown you need an Academic plan or Commercial.
Where do I see the reports of my Challenges?
In the Games tab, switching the Game format filter to Challenges.
Can I download the results?
With an Academic plan or Commercial plan, yes. You can download an Excel file with Download all (or Download, when you have something selected) or create a Google Sheets document with Open in Google Sheets. Both include all the period's data, with the answer breakdown. On the Basic and Advanced plans, exporting Reports isn't available.
Can I filter the results by date?
Yes. You can select predefined periods (last year, last month, last week, last day) or a custom range.
How long is the data kept in the Reports?
One month with the Basic plan, three months with the Advanced, one year with the Academic and five years with the Commercial.
Can I delete a game's accumulated scores?
Yes. In My games, open the game's Options menu (···) and select Reset rankings. The accumulated scores are deleted and the ranking starts from zero. This action can't be undone.
